Recycled Paperboard: for purists only?
November 26, 2007
Created in 1995 by the 100% Recycled Paperboard Alliance, Inc. (RPA-100%), the 100% recycled paperboard symbol is displayed today on a wide range of products and packaging made with 100% recycled paperboard.
So this symbol is for recycled material – to show off the manufacturers’ green credentials -, but doesn’t mean that the material is recyclable again.
The 100% recycled paperboard symbol is owned by RPA-100% and is reserved exclusively for licensed use on products and packaging made with 100% recycled paperboard, and use of the symbol is free for licensees of RPA-100%. More than 80 companies have signed licensing agreements with RPA-100% to display the symbol on products and packaging made from 100% recycled paperboard.
